The Rethink Runoff stream team partnered with the Dorothy Alling Library to construct rain barrels for Williston residents. Stream Team Coordinator, Lucas Goldfluss, led the event, explaining the benefits of having a rain barrel attached to your home gutter system and then demonstrating how to construct a rain barrel. Participants drilled their entrance holes, spigot holes, and overflow holes, screwed everything in and even went home with an extension hose, rethink runoff goodies, and a homeowner manual to stormwater maintenance. It was a great time and we’re so happy to have led this event.
The event was quite fitting with our never ending rainy weekends, and all of a sudden we entered a drought! Hopefully the rain barrels will get some use this fall.
